Rally against slavery in Libya
The footage of the sale of African refugees and migrants as slaves in Libya sparked outrage in Africa and Paris. On November 28, 2017, the African Diaspora of New York organized a rally against modern slavery, joined by Foundation for Ethnic Understanding President Rabbi Marc Schneier and the Foundation’s Executive Director Chris Sacarabany.
The rally took place in front of the Libyan mission to the United States. In his keynote remarks, Rabbi Marc Schneier stood up against the slave market in Libya.
Students’ guides and Reports on Black-Jewish relations
Based on Rabbi Marc Schneier’s acclaimed book Shared Dreams: Martin Luther King Jr. & the Jewish Community, the FFEU has developed a High School curriculum guide as well as a student’s guide. FFEU also publishes polls and Annual reports on Black/Jewish relations in the United States. Thousands of copies of the FFEU’s reports were distributed across the country to community groups and their leaders detailing the state of cooperation and conflict.
