FFEU President Rabbi Marc Schneier facilitated the first-ever Kosher reception, a pre-Rosh Hashanah luncheon, at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C., at the request of Ambassador Yerzhan Ashikbayev.
The Ambassador hosted a gathering of prominent American Jewish and local rabbinic leaders on the eve of the High Holy Days Season
In his presentation to Ambassador Ashikbayev, Rabbi Schneier remarked: “Kazakhstan is a model of interreligious and intercultural coexistence, a country that hosts one of the largest Jewish communities in the Muslim world. On the global stage, Kazakhstan has promoted the values of interfaith cooperation through the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. We are most grateful to you today for opening your Embassy and sharing a pre-Rosh Hashanah meal with leaders of the American Jewish community on the eve of the Jewish High Holy Days Season. We look forward to strengthening our bonds of friendship with you and the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
