Rabbi Marc Schneier hosted a farewell luncheon in New York City in honor of H.E. Elin Suleymanov

Rabbi Marc Schneier, President of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU) hosted, on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, a farewell luncheon in New York City in honor of H.E. Elin Suleymanov who served as Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States from 2011 to 2021 and is now called to be the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the United Kingdom.

Among the attendees at the private luncheon were H.E. Israel Nitzan, Consul General of the State of Israel in New York, Cheryl Fishbein, President, Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, Daniel S. Mariaschin, CEO, B’nai B’rith International, Izzy Tapoohi, CEO, Birthright Israel Foundation, and Michael Cohen, Eastern Director, Simon Wiesenthal Center.

In his presentation to Ambassador Suleymanov, Rabbi Schneier remarked: “I am most grateful for your being so instrumental in implementing and strengthening President Ilham Aliyev’s extraordinary commitment and dedication to interreligious cooperation and coexistence. You were one of the most widely respected and accomplished diplomats in the United States and you have elevated Azerbaijan as a global paradigm for Muslim-Jewish relations”.

The luncheon hosted by FFEU was Ambassador Suleymanov’s final event in the United States before his immediate departure to London.
